What is it about spring that makes everyone want to clean house? Is it because they’ve finally emerged from the cocoon of their winter slumber and realized that they’ve got way too much stuff? Or maybe it’s just that the days are longer and you have more time on your hands. Whatever the case, it’s time for some deep spring cleaning.
MAKE IT FUN
Nothing is more dreadful than cleaning. There’s a reason why we call it a chore. But, if you can make it fun, you might forget that you’re on your hands and knees scrubbing the tub. Music makes everything better; get yourself a portable Bluetooth speaker that can travel from room to room with you and have yourself a dance party while you dust. (Or, if you don’t want to upset your neighbors with your one-woman disco, you can get yourself some high quality cordless, wireless headphones.)
MAKE IT TECH
Are you still using that old straw broom and the dustpan that you have to bend over to use? Has your stringy cloth mop seen better days? Get yourself some new gear. Many of the brooms and mops out there are made with better, more durable materials are designed to make your cleaning more effective (unlike some old school tool, you won’t just be pushing dirt around). Ultra-light cordless vacuums are great for quick clean ups, or try one of the robotic vacuums that can clean while you rest.
MAKE IT GREEN
One of the reasons many people hate cleaning are the toxic fumes from cleaning products. Go au naturel and pick up organic cleaning products that lack the strong chemicals in mainstream products. From window cleaners and floor cleaners to dish soap and air fresheners, there’s a whole world out there that won’t give you a headache while you clean.
CELEBRATE YOUR HARD WORK
Once you’ve put in all that elbow grease and your place is spanking clean, kick back with a bubble bath and a glass of sparkling wine. You’ve earned it!
