Local Boutique To Join Brookwood Village

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 10, 2016) – Brookwood Village announced today that Indigo will open a location at the dynamic mixed-use development located in the Birmingham communities of Mountain Brook and Homewood.

Indigo is a locally-owned boutique with one-of-a-kind women’s apparel, jewelry, artwork and home decor created by local artists.  Up to as many 30 undiscovered artists will be provided the opportunity to showcase their talent and goods in the shop on a consignment basis.  Shoppers will find an eclectic array of paintings and sculptures among more traditional retail offerings of clothing, handmade jewelry, soaps and candles.

Birmingham resident Amy K. Harper, who also operates a similar boutique by the name of Harper Lane at a shopping center in Hoover, is the owner of Indigo.  An interior designer for more than 20 years, Ms. Harper launched her business at a mall kiosk where her handmade jewelry was so successful that her kiosk expanded four times in a five-year period, eventually leading her to open a mall shop with a storefront.

“I was blessed with wonderful opportunities to gain exposure for my jewelry,” stated Ms. Harper.  “I want to give that same opportunity to other skilled and talented artists in the greater Birmingham area through this store.”

Indigo will occupy a 2,293-square-foot suite located directly outside Macy’s on the upper level of Brookwood Village.  It is anticipated that the boutique will open for business this summer.

“Indigo is the perfect addition to Brookwood Village,” stated Todd Minnis, spokesperson for the owner of Brookwood Village.  “Our long-term plan for Brookwood Village is to showcase more local boutiques, so this is a logical progression in our continuing redevelopment program at the shopping center.”
